Anyone who has been to Big Blue will no doubt be aware that we are dog mad. Between the resort dogs and staff members dogs we have a number of characters and when one sadly dies we all feel devastated. It is with sad news that those who were here back around 2011 and have lived up in Sunlord, Rocco, the big horse of a dog has died. He was known for his lanky legs and his love for coconuts. He has lovingly been buried surrounded with coconuts. He has gone to join Ugly, and BBD in doggy heaven. If you have a pet go give him/ a cuddle and show how much they are loved. RIP Rocco.

On happier tones Tech manager Rick is of on a Big Blue Dive Club jolly in the Philippines. The team have been enjoying the delights of thresher sharks and amazing visibility. Not to worry though our very own Chumphon Pinnacle was spectacular today for the Open Water students who we're finishing their course. No sharks mind, but full of barracuda, huge groupers and more travelly than you can shake a stick at. Divemaster Nick saw maybe 40 batfish off Barracuda Rock and tonnes of pompano. Instructor Andreas even found a nudibranch, well done Andreas!

Swim for Sharks 2015 is soon approaching and training for the 3.4km swim around Koh Nang Yuan has begun, Nick and Sonia were off at Shark Bay this afternoon and were rewarded for their efforts with a massive turtle and a couple of fairly big black tip reef sharks. Swim for Sharks was the drunken brain child of 2 previous Big Blue instructors to encourage the awareness for the need to protect the oceans most vital species and has gone from strength to strength over the years. As well as a timed swim there is also a snorkel swim so literally anyone can join in, Big Blue Conservation have support canoes with water and first aid are constantly with the swimmers, money raised goes towards Shark Guardians, Sea Shepherd and Save Koh Tao. The event takes place this year on the 29th August, so it's time to dust of the speedos and goggles and just keep swimming!
